Barbacàn's Livél Riserva originates from the Valgella subzone within Valtellina Superiore DOCG in Lombardy, Italy. The vineyards are situated on steep, terraced slopes at altitudes between 550 and 600 meters above sea level, with south-facing exposure. The soil composition is predominantly sandy and schistose, rich in gneiss, granite, and quartz, providing an ideal terroir for the Chiavennasca grape, the local name for Nebbiolo. This vintage experienced favorable conditions, leading to optimal ripening. Grapes are hand-harvested; fermentation occurs spontaneously without sulfur, followed by an extended maceration period. The wine is aged for three years in large barrels and then refined in the bottle for two more years before release.
