The Casio Desk Clock DQD-851J-8JF isn’t made from metal like its wrist watch version. Instead, it’s merely cut in plastic that’s been given a metal-like finish. It measures 4.6 x 4 x 1.9 inches (width x height x depth), so it’s around four times larger than its digital watch counterpart, making it a great size to keep on a shelf, side table, or nightstand to give the room a retro techie vibe. All the colorful labels found on the bezel of its timepiece version find their way to the desk clock, making it legitimately look like the real thing.
However, it doesn’t mirror the functionality of its watch counterpart. There’s no stopwatch, for instance, since you don’t really need that in a wrist-worn timepiece. Instead, they added a humidity sensor and a thermometer, so it can monitor and display the prevailing environmental conditions, along with a full calendar, an alarm clock with a snooze button, and amber LEDs that make it easier to see in the dark. It runs on two AA batteries.
