In 1968, UCF (then Florida Technological University) introduced their first ever mascot- a half orange and half astronaut hybrid called the “Citronaut.” The character was intended to bring together the growing space program and orange industry dominating Florida at the time. While the mascot was not well received at the time, he has become a beloved part of UCF history. Brought to you in partnership with College Vault.
