....look. we are DROWNING in information but STARVED for knowledge...
the base of this mixed media piece starts with a wooden frame layer meant to evoke vintage commercial construction sites, surrounded by with a big protective blue wall covered in peeling posters, bills, advertisements and graffiti.
The box is filled with painted and inked paper, torn and cut and fixed to swamp the words floating above.
In turn, that mess of words and messages represents the sheer volume of information surrounding us - whether it be digital, paper, media or websites..
the question - where is the knowledge? the facts? the good words....
meant to make us think about holding our words carefully, this piece is original, one-of-a-kind and close to my heart.
The framework is made from a hard basswood panel cradled by 1.5 inch hardwood sides, painted with blacks and blues. The torn paper is carefully attached to both swamp and balance the top layer.
The piece measures 10 x 10 inches, with a 1.5 inch edge. It can be hung or propped on a level surface..
